Starting from January 1998, PKNIC has started a program (called DirectRegister) to co-delegate
its domain registration authority to a number of Internet Services companies in Pakistan. PKNIC DirectRegister
program is a way to share the responsibility of Domain Registration for .PK TLD. In this program, PKNIC is delegating
the task of domain name registration to a group of selected Internet Providers and Consultants in Pakistan. These
alliance partners will act as "Trusted Agents" or PKNIC-Associate-Registrars, and will be able to directly
register new domains under .PK.
The delegation program is open to all qualified companies in Pakistan. The criteria for
selection for all new participants in this program is outlined below:
The pilot DirectRegister test phase has now ended, and is now replaced by a permanent DirectRegister program.
WHAT IS DIRECT REGISTER:
Under the DirectRegister program, PKNIC delegates the capability of INSTANT domain name registration to a group of selected Internet Providers and Consultants in Pakistan. These alliance partners will act as "Trusted Agents" on PKNIC's behalf, and will be able to Directly Register new PK domains (without going through PKNIC Staff for approval). They will use the PKNIC's Shared Registry system, and the new domains they register will be added to the .PK root-server DNS within ten minutes.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
The DirectRegister program is open to any organization that is competent and have technical expertise about domain name registration, DNS, nameservers, security key management and related areas. The organization must have either registered at least fifty domain names with PKNIC in the past, OR has an intent of registration of at least fifty domain names in the next twelve months.
COSTS
There is no fee to become a PKNIC Trusted Agent. In fact, the DirectRegister partners get additional discount on the domain maintenance fee (10 to 20% discount).
PAYMENTS
All domains registered by DirectRegister partners are pre-paid by them (in blocks of minimum of fifty domains each).
Note: In the pilot program, we did not require any pre-payment, but that led to abuse of the system, and we have thousands of unpaid domains (which will be eventually deleted by December 31, 2000).

To apply for the program, please send the following form to staff@pknic.net.pk
Once we receive this form, a complete agreement will be drafted using this information, and will be sent to you to sign.
