PKNIC Fees

A nominal fee of Rs. 1000/- per year will be charged per year for all domains. There are no extra charges for modifications in the domain name records. There are no other hidden charges.
For some domains registered directly for a Federal ministry under .gov.pk the domain fee may be waived .
The fees collected are intended to cover the costs of operation and administration of the .PK root servers DNS, domain registration services and Direct-Registry services, including staff, equipment, record keeping, and Internet bandwidth costs. Any surplus is to be held against contingencies, expansion of DNS network.

Effective from February 1998, the maintenance fee will be collected from all domains, in advance. Due to the very low volume of the number of domains, the fee is collected on a two-year basis (as done by most other NICs in the world) to reduce the expenses associated with collection procedure.
For all existing domains, the fee will apply from Feburary 1998.
For new domains, the fee will be collected in advance for two years period starting from the first day of the month of the domain activation date.
Payment of the Maintenance Fee is due on the first day of the anniversary month of the activation date. The domain name will be deleted from the database on the day after the due date if payment is not received by PKNIC by that date.

Payments are due within thirty days from the date of registration of a domain. If payment is not received by PKNIC within the due date, the domain will be considered as expired, and will be canceled, or put on hold, or transferred to any other party who is interested in that expired domain name.
